Hey Everyone! happy.freaking.wednesday. Woohoo! My podcast post is finally here! So after two weeks of listening to lots of y’alls recommendations I have a list of them split up into categories! Thank you to everyone who helped! I chose a handful and listened to about 2-3 episodes each. Below I listed them into different categories and a little review of each of them! There are 6 categories: Fun, Life, Spiritual/Religion, Relationship, Murder and Crime. Read below to see the breakdown!
Fun
This podcast is great! Two girls named Ria and Fran say all the things that everyone is thinking when it comes to celebrity scandals and gossip. It’s the perfect guilty pleasure listen! Who doesn’t love talking about celebrity gossip?! Sometimes you need a break from your own personal drama and we can always count on celebrities for that. There were so many times throughout the podcast where I was, “UH YES THAT’S WHAT I THOUGHT!” It’s funny, honest and passes the time when you want something lighthearted to listen to!
Crime
I stumbled across this as I was browsing my podcast app. Jason Flom sits down with men and women who have been wrongfully accused and sent to prison for years. This podcast really opened my eyes to the injustice that goes on right under our noses. Hearing these stories from the victims and what actually happened makes this an almost emotional experience for a listener. It’s heartbreaking, scary, inspiring and insanely addicting!
Life
‘Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard’
Dax Shepard kills it yet again. He interviews celebrities and has real and honest conversations with them. They share personal stories and their climb to the top of Hollywood. They talk about struggles that you and I go through. He really brings out a side of celebrities that we forget…they are human too. I left feeling inspired and laughing at the end of each episode. Most definitely recommend!
This. This right here is FANTASTIC. A sorority sister of mine suggested this to me and I am so glad she did. The Moth travels around the country and it is an open mic for people to share their stories and this podcast highlights the best. It brings storytelling to a whole new light. There is a theme that goes with each night. These stories range from funny to sad. Tragic to uplifting. I cannot stop listening to this. Go.listen.now!
Spiritual/Religion
‘Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations ‘
Oh Oprah. The queen can do no wrong. I have spoken about this podcast a lot before and there is a reason. She interviews many celebrities, CEOs and other affluent people. The conversation is focused on their spiritual beliefs and journey and it is absolutely beautiful. When it comes to podcasts or even books about spirituality, timing is everything. Every time I listened to this podcast it spoke straight to my heart. If you are feeling a little lost spiritually, give this a listen to. I’m sure that one of these will speak to you and help guide your path!
Being a young Muslim woman, I related to this A LOT. It is so funny and so REAL. Taz and Zahra are young Muslim women who talk about their life growing up in America and trying to balance religion and culture. A lot of their personal experiences align so well with mine. Especially when it comes to their overprotective parents. Now, you most definitely do not have to be Muslim to listen to this. I actually encourage everyone to take a listen! It really portrays the balance that Muslim American women (and men!) go through. It makes me feel so good that others go through the same struggles I go through. It is totally fun and entertaining and I’m loving it!
Murder
Almost everyone recommended this! I have definitely heard of Serial, but was never that into podcasts at the time so I didn’t look into it. Boy have I been missing out. This podcast is narrated by Sarah Koenig who dives into the case of Adnan Syed who has been sentenced to life in prison for being convicted of his ex-girlfriend’s murder. I only got to episode two, but I already have so many questions and I write them down as I go along so I don’t forget. I’m really curious as to what my standpoint of his innocence will be by the end of this. Either way, this is really good so far!
‘Small Town Murder’ (Murder-Comedy)
I have been listening to this podcast for a while now and it’s awkwardly hilarious. I say awkward because I never imagined laughing so much when I’m listening about murder! This true crime podcast is hosted by two comedians, James Pietragallo and Jimmie Whisman. (YAAAYYYY…must listen to get this reference) They give you the background and statistics of the town they are talking about and then get into the nitty gritty murder. The humor comes from them making fun of the small town, the murderer or any idiot they find along the way in the story. It’s super funny, but like they always say, if you are easily offended…best you find something else.
Relationship
All the things you say to your friends on girls night comes to life in this podcast. Ashley and Rayna are freaking HILARIOUS. Nothing is off limits and they talk about dating, serious relationships and sex. They do not hold back and I applaud them for it. I really feel as if I’m hanging out with my girlfriends. Any single girl trying to make it in this love infested world…go listen!
I have linked the podcast in each title where you can listen to it online or if you have an iPhone like me, you can listen to it on your Podcast App 🙂
Sip of the Week
My Sip this week is this beautiful, soft, suede-like feel Moto Jacket from Old Navy! I got mine in the color Taupe, but my eye is also on the Wine Purple color *drool*. I am so excited to pair this jacket with so many outfits this Fall. You can dress this up or down and runs TTS {even has a bit of a stretch} For a limited time only Old Navy is having a 20% off sale right now which makes this bad boy $47.99! Totally worth it! Have a great rest of the week y’all!
With love always,
