#Goalz

Happy Wednesday Everyone! Can you believe that it’s already August?! I can’t believe how fast time is flying. The summer is a time where I try to do everything and oftentimes stretch myself way too thin. Here I am running around like straight sociopath trying to fit in all the fun, but am I really having fun if I am constantly stressing about “doing it all?” NAH. I’m not. My summer has been more relaxed than previous years, or so I thought. I was casually looking at my calendar for this month and realized how much I have going on! Which is great and I feel very privileged to have so many exciting things planned, but what happens to my personal goals when I get busy? I ignore them. Next thing you know, here I am knee deep in the best time of the year, aka FALL, asking myself what happened?! *dramatic flashback to all the times I said TREAT YO’SELF* This doesn’t just apply to fitness goals either! It can be financial, mental, health, whatever!

This is why I love starting a brand new month. It’s a time I use to reflect on what I accomplished {and what I didn’t accomplish} in the previous month. It also gives me a fresh start to conquer the next month ahead! I’m going to bring back an old {but good} habit of mine. I will start making monthly goals! I used to do this a while back but I got lazy and never picked it back up. I feel like it really keeps me in check with always trying to better myself. I try to keep it between three-four goals. If it’s anything more than that then I start to feel overwhelmed, but that is just me! If y’all can conquer a ten point list, then all the power to ya!

My three goals for August are:

Take time to enjoy everything going on/slow down appreciate life

Save money

Lose 3 pounds

I feel like my list is pretty similar to a lot of other people’s goals. We are all just trying to be healthy, peaceful people with a bit of pocket change for security, amirite?!

One thing I always try to keep in mind though, you don’t need the start of the month to ‘start fresh’. I think we sometimes get so wrapped up in the idea of, “Oh, I’ll start the diet on Monday” or “When I finally have this one thing, then I can start to be happy” That is a pile of crap. Every day that we are given, is a day to start fresh. I know I know, that sounds cheeesy as hell. It’s so true though. Imagine if we threw out the idea of waiting to start a goal. We probably would have accomplished a hefty amount of goals. Or at the very least, start to feel more positive and motivated to get to our next.  We aren’t promised that next Monday, so do yourself a favor and give yourself that opportunity to start fresh right now. We all deserve that!

With all that said, this leads me to my Sip of the Week that inspired this post!

You Are A Badass-Jen Sincero

One day, my best friend was in beautiful San Francisco vacationing with her boyfriend. They were in a bookstore and she happened to look down and saw a bright yellow book titled, “You Are A Badass” and literally said {in her own words}, “My best friend is a badass, so duh, this is perfect” I am forever grateful for her, in a million ways, but for thinking of me in this moment and taking the extra step to surprise me with the best gift ever. I am loving how it is changing my life.

Now, I enjoy reading but I am a s l o w reader. In this instance my pace has worked out in my favor. Every single time I decide to pick up this book and read the next chapter or two, it is always in perfect timing. It will relate to the exact situation and feeling I’m currently going through in that moment and give me the guidance to deal with it. Coincidence? No, it’s God working in His mysterious ways and I’m so thankful for that. If you haven’t heard of this book or if you have and just haven’t taken the plunge to buy it, please do so. You will not regret it.

I hope everyone has a great day! If you have any book suggestions or any monthly goals you have for yourself please share away! I would love to hear them all!
